Instructor’s questions:The video clip this week demonstrated Dr. David Reille’s method of preparing a college student for a career assessment interpretation. What were your likes and/or dislikes of this preparation. What are your reasons for your comments? If you were introducing test results to this student, what might be some things you could do differently and why?

I liked that Dr. Reille gave the client a thorough and in depth preparation. He started off the session by giving an overview of the last time they met and the client’s current situation, which is helpful. I thought that he gave a good explanation of how the career assessment worked and the different parts of it. He really broke things down and made sure to fully explain each part. If I were to do anything differently, I would give concrete examples and relate them to the client. For example, Dr. Reille takes a decent amount of time explaining the concept of skills and interest fitting together. By taking this and asking for the client’s input and making a concrete example would be helpful. Overall, I like his introduction. I do think that you need to read your client and tailor your information to their needs. Something like this may be too in depth or too long for someone else.
