3.) Read the student response on ch.15 (Respond back between 100 words) "Chapter 15 discusses ethics and law and how they are used interchangeably. However, the two words actually have some differences. Law/legal is actually required while ethics is not legally required. Standards in laws are determined by the court. While in ethics standards are determined by the people. Just because something is legal that does not mean that it is ethical. When ethics and law are brought together they can force health care managers to have to make difficult decisions.

Fraud is intentional, while abuse is unintentional acts. Fraud would be tacking on additional charges to a healthcare bill. Abuse may be a physician unintentionally causing harm to a patient. These days there are many different laws and compliances rules put into place to help protect patients and healthcare organizations. Healthcare managers have to learn and be aware. Knowing what to look out for when it comes to fraud and abuse in the workplace.

The university is willing to pay your facility for the information and give a small donation of $8,000 to you, but you refuse and end the discussion. By this action, how are you helping to maintain high ethical standards for your health care organization?
