I have learned quite a bit of new information from reading my classmate’s discussion board.I have learned that some of the treatment facilities are using holistic approaches to treating drug and alcohol addiction such as acupuncture and EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization.There are so many different therapy models a treatment center can use to intervene in substance abuse. Cognitive Behavioral and Therapy and Alcoholics Anonymous are used more often in addressing substances disorders.The most compelling point is I’m glad to see that some of the treatment facilities are trying new treatment models.Not all treatment models will work for all addicts.Participating in continued care is a very important element in staying sober.I know a lot of people say it’s easy to get sober but stay sober is a challenge.

Discussion boards have always been a learning tool for me because I can get another point of view to the topics discussed.Some of the classmates are already in the Human Service field so they can provide valuable insight into the diagnosis and treatment models for addictions.I really learn for the live chats, materials, class discussion boards and textbooks.I need to review the different treatment models again.There are a lot of treatment models so at times it was a little overwhelming for me. I didn’t think there was enough time to spend on all the information available.I think I will have a clear understanding of all the treatment models when I review them again.Reviewing the topic will help make the subject matter clear to me.
