Task 3: Coding Compliance Training Program
Introduction:
In addition to an enterprise-wide corporate compliance program, a facility may also choose to develop a coding compliance program, which focuses on continuous improvement in the quality of documentation and coding. Health information management professionals may have responsibilities in implementing and participating in these programs.
For this task, you will create a multimedia presentation and record yourself conducting a compliance training program for staff members of a health information management department using the Panopto video recording system. To access Panopto, see the “Accessing Panopto” web link below and sign in using the “WGU” option. If prompted, log in using your WGU student portal credentials, and then you will be forwarded to Panopto’s website. Scenario:
You are the manager of a health information management department, and you are tasked with designing a coding compliance training program for members of the health information management (HIM) staff to be conducted at your next monthly department meeting
Requirements:
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. Use the Turnitin Originality Report available in Taskstream as a guide for this measure of originality.
You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.
A. Create a coding compliance training program as a multimedia presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote), including presenter notes, for staff members in the health information management department that includes the following components:
1. the purpose for a coding compliance training program
2. how a coding compliance training program is evaluated
3. the key policies that must be included in a coding compliance training program
4. the key points that must be included in a coding compliance code of conduct
B. Provide a link to an audiovisual recording of yourself delivering your presentation using the Panopto system that incorporates your multimedia presentation.
1. Demonstrate the following in your presentation:
• professionalism
• confidence
• strong and clear communication and presentation skills.
Note: The audiovisual recording should feature you visibly presenting the material (i.e., not in voiceover or embedded video) and should simultaneously capture both you and your multimedia presentation.
Note: For instructions on how to access and use Panopto, watch either the “Panopto (PC Users)” video or the “Panopto (MAC Users)” video by clicking on the applicable web link provided below. To access Panopto's website, navigate to the web link titled: "Accessing Panopto", and then choose to log in using the “WGU” option. If prompted, log in using your WGU student portal credentials, and then it will forward you to Panopto’s website.
To submit your recording, upload it to the Panopto drop box titled “Healthcare Compliance – HXP1 Task 3.” Once the recording has been uploaded and processed in Panopto's system, retrieve the URL of the recording from Panopto and copy and paste it into the Links option. Upload the remaining task requirements using the Attachments option.
C. Acknowledge sources, using APA-formatted in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
