NEED RESPONCE

Good start Jay–  Certainly we saw some significant changes after the spill!  Leaders in the organization changed the company name from British Petroleum to BP and in doing so they also launched a successful image-building campaign, calling themselves “Beyond Petroleum”

The company redesigned their logo to a green and yellow sun- elements that portrayed the company as green activists. Tell me more – has this company bounced back from the spill?  What P/R actions are needed to make a full recovery?

Corporate social responsibility can be defined as a management process within a firm or a company whereby the company seeks to manage its processes so as to produce a generally positive impact on the society within which it operates from. The companies do so with an aim of maintaining a good image to the public and also to contribute to economic development (Moon, 2014). 

British petroleum commonly known as BP has its headquarters in the United Kingdom and it is a globally recognized company that deals with Oil and Gas. It has one of the largest revenues in the world and therefore often referred to as one of the largest companies in the world. It has several branches located in all across continents of the world. British Petroleum in its statement asserts that they are very committed to the safety and also in the development of people in the societies in which they operate in. BP is socially responsible because they are committed to ensure that no harm or accidents befall the people and also no harmful effects on the environment as a result of their production process.

One of the moves by BP to show that it is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility is the energy saving initiative which it is engaged in. British Petroleum is seen to be continuously researching on cleaner approaches of production of more efficient energy and how this energy can be delivered efficiently (Bamberg, 2000). This is through diversification of green energy industry which is involved in production of petroleum gas which is liquefied, fossil fuels and also in the production of renewable energy. BP is actively involved in the Corporate Social Responsibility and it takes it very strongly. This has helped them to remain competitive and therefore be one of the world’s leading companies.
