Business process reengineering (BPR) and enterprise resources planning (ERP) are only two of many strategies that organizations to be ‘best-in-class.’ Organizations frequently strive to improve their business processes by performing tasks faster, cheaper and better. BPR allows for organizations to capitalize on this concept – finding a different, more direct way to do business – while ERP enables the integration of business processes throughout all departments and functions into a single IT system. ERP allows for enterprise-wide information on all business operations, providing a method for the effective planning and controlling of organizational resources.

Using what you have learned in your introduction to Business Process Reengineering, think of an example of a broken process that is causing you difficulty. An example of this may be the process to return merchandise ordered online. Reengineer this broken process –> diagram the ‘As-Is’ process and then diagram the ‘To-Be’ process.
