Quantitative data is usually cleaned up and recorded before analyzed. In contrast to qualitative data, clean up and analysis is done or proceeded in tandem (two). Small research projects have a primary researcher who handles transcription and achieving this process in a less stressful problematic way. However, in larger research projects labor is divided meaning the data preparation is separated from the analysis. Researchers must have a database management protocol and follow it for two reasons. First, standard transcripts exist to prevent incompatible data products. Second, it decreases the chances that the analysis will be compromised or delayed. To ensure high quality analysis researchers must create coherent, cohesive and order. The lay out for all documents must be treated as a large collection of data stored in a standardized format. Standardizing ensures problem free delegation and reduces time spent on finding specific parts of the transcript, it allows more time to be spent on the analysis.

There is seven ways to manage qualitative data:

1. Keep all copies of important documents. Keep the data management system backed up.

2. Arrange all notes and commentary’s in chronological, genre, cast-of-characters, event or activity, event or activity, topical or quantitative data schema.

3. Label and store interviews to communicate crucial information about the file to researchers.

4. All documents and artifacts are cataloged

5. Keep all materials in safe storage

6. Check for missing data

7. Create a process for reading and reviewing text.

These seven steps will prevent research confusion at the stage of analysis. Confusion limits the amount of information that can be processed and remembered by researchers. A competent and reliable system for tracking, processing, and managing data is key to the successful and timely completion of research study.
