Introduction

For this assignment, you will apply your knowledge gained this week to a sample you have either gathered or downloaded from the internet. As you may have noticed, the final project which is due in week 7 is given to you on day 1 of the class. This will be the second step of scaffolding to complete your week 7 project.

Activity Instructions
In preparation for completion of your final project, please describe your educational career path/interest. Next, either collect your own data set by asking a sample group your unbiased research question, use an applicable data set from the internet, or choose one from the library link at Sage Stats (in the Resources) which can be cut and pasted in an EXCEL file. (There is also a helpful user guide found included in the Resources). Remember that this topic should align with your degree, so that the knowledge that you gain is practical and helpful in your future career.

Upload the EXCEL data set that you will be using for the rest of the project. Then, answer each of the following in a separate word document:

• Describe the nature of the data set, including sampling method
• Identify the variable(s) that will be of interest in your study.
• Find the mean, median, and mode.
• Describe which measure of central tendency best fits the data and why you think so.
• Compute and explain the meaning of your standard deviation.
• Cut and paste a normal bell curve, then list out the six sigma limits specific to your data set beneath the appropriate space in the curve.

As asked in the beginning of the assignment, my future interest is being a business owner, perhaps in the restaurant business (campus dining).

I've taken a survey of 100 students on my campus to see cheese or pepperoni is the preferred pizza topping. The results were 68 prefer cheese and 32 prefer pepperoni.

My unbiased question was "which pizza toppings do you prefer?" Once I reached the target number of 100 who choose cheese or pepperoni I stopped the survey. In all I surveyed 140 students. The additional 40 like toppings other than cheese or pepperoni.
