1)chapter 3 gives out tons of ways you can take notes and explains how you build your research paper on the notes it self. There was one particular part that I really took "note" of no pun intended and it was how they explained the importance of a thesis statement and how the paper builds on it and vise versa. Seeing these different aspects has be currently brainstorming for a better thesis statement that way I will have a much better time down the road when finish up the other parts of my paper. The things I seen my thesis statement was lacking was partially lacking a direct point to the argument and it was very open ended, so I am going to continue to look to the examples I seen to better fine tune my thesis statement.

2)Creating a rough outline is one of the steps to writing a paper well. The rough outline will direct your paper as you write and ensure that you are hitting all key points that help support your thesis. Using organizational patterns while writing is very important because they will help you stay on track while making sure that you are providing enough evidence and support behind each key idea.

3)While I was reading in the earlier parts of chapter 8 I noticed that there was an picture of a pyramid similar to the food pyramid well this one had the rankings of what is the best kind of sources. I figured I would talk about this because its nice to see a good visual representation of what is the most important as when it comes to what kind of sources you should be using, I am not sure if any one has gotten to the readings yet for this chapter but here is the page number (Pg112). Hopefully it will put things into a better perspective with you all like it did me.

4)One great way to determine if your thesis statement is viable is to consider whether or not it is debatable. A quick and easy way to determine this is to write its opposite.

Consider the example from the linked reading and flip it to test its viability: "Pollution is bad for the environment." becomes "Pollution is good for the environment."

Obviously, this is untrue, so the point is not debatable and therefore the statement cannot be a viable thesis statement.

6)The film was a reminder of how important it is to develop a effective thesis statement. Organizing complex ideas can be overwhelming, however making sure I have sufficient amount of information for my paper is extremely important. The thesis statement is what sets the tone of your paper, whatever topic you may be writing about the thesis statement informs the reader of the main point of the paper.
