The purpose of this assignment is to think deeply about Self Concept and how it relates to psychology, your learning, and life in modern society.
- Look back at your Self-Concept diagram from class.
- Think about your roles and reference groups (Ecological model started in class).
- Think about the culture that you live in.
Answer the following prompts: Number your answers.
- Is your culture more Collectivist or Individualistic? Explain.
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of either the Collectivist or Individualistic culture? Choose one and explain.
3. Are you more independent or interdependent as you relate to your reference group? Why do you say this? (hint: give examples)
4. What factors determined your interdependence or independence as it relates to your self concept?

Relate to theories and information presented in lecture and your textbook. If relevant, demonstrate how learning specific new theories affected your preconceptions, misconceptions, and/or behavior.
