Scenario:

To spark an interesting and balanced discussion on this Supreme Court case, I would like everyone with the last names from A to J to post an initial post that defends the state laws in question. Simply put, for those of you who will be defending the state laws, you will be arguing that same-sex marriages conducted in other states should not be recognized and that the states which prohibited same-sex marriage should not be required to perform such marriages. For those of you with last names from K to Z, please post an initial post that challenges the state laws in question.

After you have posted your initial post, we will discuss the following question. From a legal standpoint, do you agree or disagree with the ruling? Why or why not? Remember to support your answers. Cite all sources in The Bluebook format and remember to it is ok to disagree in a respectful manner.

In our last forum we explored some of the peacekeeping operations which led to serious reexamination of UN operations. Additionally, after 2000, the doctrine of Responsibility to Protect began to take shape within the UN. In retrospect, how might R2P have been useful as a tool for humanitarian intervention in either the case for El Salvador (1980-92) or Cambodia (1975-79)? Would its use have changed the nature of the later peacekeeping operation and its outcome?
