This project isintended to give you direct experience with actions necessary to develop anunderstanding of how coaching can be a vital part of your organization.

Part One of theproject focuses on the existing employee development climate in your organizationas well as the potential for advancing employee development in general, andcoaching in particular. Any program you hope to pilot or expand will need to beconsidered in the context of organizational preference and fitness, and youwill need to consider attitudes of key decision-makers.

In Part Two,you begin to build a case for coaching by identifying the need. A successfulproposal will be based on a benefit analysis that includes some specificexamples, as well as evidence of having considered alternative solutions.Ultimately, a business case must be made to justify the associated costs, soyou want to be certain the situations identified are the strongest possibleexamples.

Part Threebuilds on the conclusions from part two and allows you to practice analyticalskills that are essential for effective coaching. While the projectrequirements stop short of placing you in an actual coaching situation, youhave practiced skills you can apply broadly in the workplace. You should beable to use the work you complete in part three to conduct interviews if youchoose.

In Part Four,you will develop a concrete plan for a specific coaching intervention. Thisallows you to test your assumptions about a situation you’ve identified andrequires you to consider what is possible in your organization. It alsoprepares you to take concrete action and sets you on a path toward integratingcoaching as an effective employee development tool for your organization.
