The United States Healthcare System faces significant challenges that clearly need urgent attention. Many citizens of the United States have suffered from the failure of undelivered healthcare systems. Approximately forty-six million Americans remain uninsured and for the citizens insured the premiums and out of pocket cost are rapidly increasing (Devote, 2008). We must address the quality and efficiency of care that lead to higher costs and to poor health outcomes. Based on evidence Americans often do not get the care they need even though the United States spends more money per person on healthcare than any other nation. Preventive care isn’t utilized, resulting in higher spending on complex advanced diseases. Many patients do not receive medical care, necessary while others receive care that many be unnecessary or even harmful. Health spending growth has consistently outpaced U.S. economic growth and is higher that health spending in other wealthy countries. The annual healthcare spending in the United States nears $7, 500 per person, many are still turned down for treatment. The healthcare reform act does in some way insure these citizens who don’t qualify for Medicaid/Medicare, but the cost is too expensive. The federal government should provide reimbursement or delivery of services for all people. A healthcare system can only be effective if patients are getting the care they need, and if their getting it in a timely manner. The system also must be sustainable, and if it’s not then changes should made to it. These changes should not compromise the care given to patients. It can be difficulty to provide proper care, quality care at a price that isn’t realistic. Like any system the United States Healthcare system has flaws in this area. The United States healthcare system is better than what’s offered in many countries, but there are still vast improvements that could be made to ensure that the citizens receive the healthcare they deserve.
