• Create the DataAccess tier and Data tier projects:
  1. Create a classlibrary project for the Data tier.
  2. Add a new classlibrary project the project created in Step 1 for the data access tier.
  3. Add a typedDataSet using a new data source that connects to the Northwind sampledatabase.
  4. Select thedatabase objects (customers, orders, order details, products, categories,and suppliers) tables.
  5. Make sure theTableAdapters are stored in the Data Access tier and the DataSet class isadded to the Data tier.
• Make sure thatseparate tiers are created for each layer by verifying that separate classlibraries were created and the necessary references to the project wereadded.

Usingthe project you started, verify the business logic layer (middle tier) isworking correctly and make the connection to the database, implementing thelogic in the data layer provided to manipulate the data stored in the databaseportion of the n-tier system.

• Add thefollowing to the project:
  1. Add a newWindows Communication Foundation (WCF) service library project to thePhase 2 individual project to communicate with the Data Access tier.
  2. Add thenecessary queries and methods to the table adapters that will return,add, edit, and delete the data from the tables specified in Phase 2.
  3. Add referencesin the Data Service to the Data tier and Data Access tier projects.
  4. Add methods tothe Data Service class created in Step 1 that will call into the DataAccess tier.
• Make sure thatseparate tiers are created for each layer by verifying that separate classlibraries were created and the necessary references to the project wereadded.

Usingthe project you worked on in the Phase 2 of the project, finalize the designand functionality of the graphical user interface (presentation tier) andbusiness and data access layers to prepare the Windows form application fordeployment to a production server. Test the application by adding, editing, anddeleting records in each table.

• Add to andperform the following on the Phase 2 of the project:
  • Add a VisualBasic Windows Form Application Project to the project created in Phase 3that will serve as the Presentation tier (user interface that includesthe programming of business logic into various form controls).
  • Set thePresentation tier project to be the Startup project.
  • Add a referencein the Presentation tier to the Data tier project.
  • Add a servicereference in the Presentation tier to the Data Service.
  • Add thenecessary Data Grid controls and graphical user interface controls toshow the data from the selected tables.
  • Make the datashow up automatically when the form loads.
  • Increase themaximum received message size in the app.config file to support the data.
• Be sure to testthe functionality of the application.

Inthis portion, you will be preparing for system deployment and security. In the portionof this project, you will create the Distributed System Deployment and TestingPlan, which will act as a form of communications and operations policy.

• Create a 5-page Distributed System Deployment and TestingPlan that includes the following:
  1. System overview
  2. Scope andobjectives
  3. Testphases and cycles
  4. Resources
  5. Roles andresponsibilities
  6. Errormanagement
  7. Operational andcommunications policies
• Be sure toreference all sources using APA style.

Makesure that the purpose of each section is stated clearly and that theDistributed System Deployment and Testing Plan serves as form of communicationand documentation for the application project.
