This is a two part assignment – explain the job aid you created and then show the actual job aid you developed.

The purpose of this job aid assignment is to show you have an understanding of what a job aid is and how it is developed. It also should show your understanding of job aids as a learning tool and a resource.

Each student must develop their own job aid from by selecting from the list provided on the instructions.

There are two parts to the assignment.

The first part is to actually complete a job aid – select one topic from the list provided below.

1 – A job aid that explains how to access the UoP library and how to use it to do research.

2 – A job aid that shows how to access the on line system and to make posts to the discussion thread, post assignments and access other information.

3. A job aid that shows new students what resources are available to them (workshops) and how to access them.

The job aid must include visuals – it is okay to do screen shots as visuals. Clip art is not a good visual since the visual should show what to do. It is also good to use arrows or circles on the screen shots to show the user exactly where to click.

The last part is to do a paper that explains the following:

• What is a job aid and how is it used by employees
• What is the specific job or task that the job aid will be used to do? How will users access the job aid?
• How will changes be made to the job aid as needed and how will employees know there have been changes? Will revision numbers be used?
• Summarize what the outcomes will be when using a job aid (benefits to a job aid).

PART 1: Start the paper by explaining the following: (done as a word document)

• For what specific job or task will the job aid be used. Where will the job aid be located making it accessible to all users? Why is it important to include details and visuals in a job aid?
• How will changes be made to the job aid when needed and how will employees know there has been a changes?
• What are the benefits to using a job aid? What are the outcomes for using any job aid?

PART 2: YOU MUST CREATE YOUR OWN JOB AID AND NOT JUST COPY ONE YOU FIND. THE PURPOSE IS TO SHOW YOU UNDERSTAND HOW TO CREATE A JOB AID.

Create a job aid from the topics listed below. This is a job aid you will develop and not one that already exists. The point is to demonstrate you can develop job aids.

NOTE: A job aid should be a step by step process that is written using a seperate sentence for each step in the process. A job aid should not be written in paragraph format, Each step of the job aid MUST include a visual that helps show what needs to be done.
