Consider how the media affects our sense of self. What messages are we being bombarded with on a daily basis when we watch television commercials and flip through magazines? For instance, who are diet commercials featuring and targeting? Who are food and restaurant commercials featuring and targeting? How about products for hair loss? Cleaning products? Appliances? Cosmetic surgery? Medications? You see where I am going here…..


How much money do we dump into the economy because of all this advertising and the promise of looking younger, having bigger muscles, a more elegant vehicle, a lighter vacuum cleaner, more effective dishwashing liquids, less body weight, more hair, and on and on. 
Break this down into specific sexes:

1. Why are women and girls constantly being bombarded with beauty product advertisements? What is the message females are being sent through this constant barrage of advertising? Does mass media~ in any form~ love and honor women? Provide examples to substantiate your position.
2. What are the messages men and boys are constantly being bombarded with? Do men feel as if they can measure-up to the standards set my media advertising? Provide examples to demonstrate your position.
3. Share your response in at least two 8-9 sentence paragraphs.
