Your Module 4 SLP Assignment: Defining a Method for Sport Coaching

Today’s coach is required to fulfill many tasks that are administrative in nature. This might include the development of training rules and practice schedules, creation of team policies and procedures, and developing a playbook just to name a few. Such activities show us that coaching is much more than teaching athletes the fundamentals of a sport.

For this SLP, create a PowerPoint presentation describing your coaching methods that you could present to a coaching staff or team. As you do so, address the following:

• Pre-game and post-game procedures
• Practice policies/procedures
• Rules for training
• Player and staff expectations
• Player and staff evaluations
• Discipline policy

SLP Assignment Expectations

To receive maximum credit, you must demonstrate understanding of context and purpose of the assignment by bringing all required elements (described above) to the discussion, and meeting additional expectations (described below).

The expected length of your SLP module assignment is 10-12 slides.

Include at least three in-text references, preferably including one which is other than those provided in the assigned readings.

As Master's-level students, it is expected that you develop strong skills for reviewing literature. (Students must conduct additional review of the literature as necessary.)

Your reference list and overall paper must be formatted properly in APA format and style.

Hint: To ensure a well-organized presentation, begin with an introduction slide (including purpose statement), and then list the three or four main ideas that you will address. Be sure to include a slide for each main idea, and use appropriate headings for each slide. Also, include a conclusion slide and a reference list slide.
