Assess the value of dynamic strategic thinking, particularly in the health care environment. Speculate on the most significant potential consequences should a health care organization neglect to think strategically. Give at least one (1) specific example of the constant changes that keep health care organizations seeking new strategies continually.

Dynamic strategic thinking is imperative in any business, but specifically in a health care environment. Health care is ever-evolving, and it is important to keep up because it deals with peoples’ health. There are new illnesses and conditions cropping up all of the time and new methods of treatment have to be introduced all of the time to take care of them. Funds have to be allocated to buy new diagnostic equipment and new equipment for treatment. For example, new strands of tick borne illnesses keep cropping up such as the Bourbon Virus. Funds have to be there for the new diagnostic testing required and the means to treat it (CDC, 2018).

Health care facilities, like any other business, have competitors so it is important to have a competitive advantage. Patients have a choice of what health care facility they want to use. Health care providers would be wise to try and attract and retain more patients, given they do have more choice. There are a number of ways to achieve a competitive advantage (Gandolph, 2012). One is word of mouth. Each person who has a good experience at a health care facility is going to tell several people about it. Families and friends tend to stick with facilities that they have had a good experience at. Another way is to treat your employees well. Each employee of a facility who is happy at their job, will tell others how great their place of work is. This will draw in other people also.

Strategies require direction,resources, and institutionalized processes. Strategies require action which involves assigning responsibilities. In the health care setting, Medicine is a continuum of evolution striving for excellence. Since 2016, health care has grown by leaps and bounds in the areas of ambulatory setting, emergency department and inpatient setting. The framework of techniques and strategies specific for the ambulatory setting provides leadership, as well as health care providers avenues to achieve the best outcomes for patients.

We all are an intricate part of this endeavor, where even the smallest opportunity to excel facilitates forward movement, thereby shaping the future footprint of our health care system. With so many changes to health care, health care providers must keep their patients in the know bout his or her health care treatment.

A health care organization must have a quality that will keep their patients returning to the facility. It could be a new MRI machine or changes to how a patient is serviced in the emergency department. We all know of the horror stories where patients complain about being in the emergency department for hours before being seen by a health care provider. How can we change this?

Example: Most hospitals have adapted the fast track program in the emergency department so that patients are seen at a faster pace so that treatment is started as soon as possible.

Patient care is priority in all health care organization.
