Unit 1: Course Project – Topic Selection

The course project is a series of elements where you will examine thecurrent standing of an organization’s training system as it relates to asingle training topic. In the final element of the training program,you will provide recommendations to the organization on how thistraining system can be improved.

Directions

You will need to select a topic. While you may selectyour own organization/department, keep in mind that it does need to be scholarly in nature. Projectsneed to be unbiased and written in the third person. Consider yourselfexamining the training program as a 3rd party outsider without priorknowledge of the system.

Examples of project topics might be:

• Driver Safety Training for a Delivery Service.
• Training for the HR Department of a local grocery chain on an HRIS system.
• Diversity training for a police department.
• HAZMAT training for the galley crew on board a Navy ship.

In all cases, the topics should be legitimate and not fictitious. Asyou consider what topic to select, consider how you will be able togather information on the topic. Sources should be scholarly in natureand might include journal articles, interviews of professionals,organization documents. Personal experience does not count as ascholarly source – remember, you should be using this project as anopportunity to broaden your perspective.

Submission Requirements

Submit your topic that includes the organization and training that you will use for the project this term. Also include at least 2 scholarly sources that you plan to use for this assignment.
