Unit 3 IP: This week you will complete Section 5 and 6.

Section 5: Software Development Methodology

There are several methodologies you could use. Examples are waterfall, FDD, and some of the Agile methodologies. If you select an agile methodology be specific about which one you have selected such as Scrum, Crystal Methods, and DSDM. Be sure you justify your decision based on the specific need(s) of your project by providing 3–4 features of the model that justifies your decision. Be sure to explain these features as key features, with 2–3 sentences for each. Not all decisions are risk free so you should also, discuss 2-3 risks related to your selected methodology and your proposed mitigation strategy.

You must include a diagram and explain the key parts of the diagram. If you share a diagram that you found, be sure to cite this correctly using APA style.

Section 6: Standards

You will review the CMMI practices. We covered this in Unit 2 and you can find the CMMI for Development practices within the Unit 2 Learning Materials. Alternatively, you could complete this section using some of the ISO standards. You must create a table that lists the 7 key activities that should happen and a short description of the activity and how it will promote quality. Make it clear which standard you are referring to for each activity. Use a good spread of the activities across the software development lifecycle. For example, maybe pick 2 activities related to a standard that covers best practices for requirements development or management, 2 activities related to a standard that covers best practices for development, and 3 activities related to a standard that covers best practices for verification and testing. These are just suggestions.
