PROJECT SUMMARY

You are a senior system analyst for TrainingPro, Inc. You have been asked to submit a report to the CEO of TrainingPro, Inc. on a new video-streaming system. You, in preparing the report, must include the documents and deliverables for the SDLC phases.

BACKGROUND

TrainingPro, inc. is a marketer and distributer of corporate training videos. The CEO of TrainingPro, Inc. would like to pursue new markets and expand its business. The CEO recently read an article (https://www.cedmagazine.com/news/2012/03/clicking-…) about video on demand (VOD) and became interested in the possibility of streaming training videos directly to corporate clients and their employees.

You are to carry out the planning and analysis for a training video streaming website that can be accessed directly by customers. The site will have only high-definition 4K contents. The CEO is considering two revenue models for the training video streaming website. First, the website carries exclusive rights to training videos that are not available on any other websites, and customers pay to access the training videos. Second, the website cam host a client organization’s own internal training videos, which can then be accessed by the client organization’s employees; the client organization pays TrainingPro, Inc. to host the training videos.

You are to analyze the system based on the second revenue model.

WHAT ARE REQUIRED?

The report is effectively a “system proposal” for the training video streaming website and will have three major sections (and corresponding subsections):

1. Planning: This section will contain (a) system request; (b) feasibility study; (c) project work plan, and (d) risk assessment.
2. Analysis: This section will contain (a) requirements definition; (b) use cases; (c) process models, and (d) data model.
3. References: See reference section below.

Note that these deliverables make up the “system proposal” document.

1. PLANNING SECTION

1.1 Sytem Request

For this new training video streaming website, develop a system request similar to the show in Figure 1-5 attached below. Include Project Sponsor, Business Need, Business Requirements, Business Values, and Special Issues or Constraints.

1.2 Feasibility Study

1.2.1 Technical Feasibility

Write a paragraph to address the technical feasibility of this training video streaming website. Answer the question “can we built it” and discuss your answer.

1.2.2 Organizational Feasibility

Write a paragraph to address the organizational feasibility of this training video streaming website. Answer the question “is this project strategically aligned with TrainingPro, INC’s business, as well as discuss your answer.

(Note: assume that another analyst at TrainingPro, Inc. is conducting an economic feasibility study. Therefore you do not have to include a subsection on Economic Feasibility.)

1.3 Project Workplan

Assume that you will be using the waterfall development methodology. Develop a project workplan similar to that shown in Figure 2-13 attached below. Organize the workplan in terms of SDLC phases, and be sure to include the major tasks in each SDLC phase.

(The use if Microsoft Project is preferred to generate the project workplan.)

1.4 Risk Assessment

Develop a risk assessment similar to that shown in Figure 2-22 attached below. Access at least two risks. For each risk, define the risk, estimate the like hood of risk, address the potential impact of this risk on the project, and describe ways to address this risk.

2. ANALYSIS SECTION

2.1 Requirements Definition

2.1.1 Functional requirements

Describe what you think should be the functional requirements of this system. Use format shown in Figure 3-3 attached below to present your functional requirements.

2.1.2 Nonfunctional Requirements

Describe the necessary nonfunctional requirements for this system. Organize your descriptions in terms of operational, performance, security, and cultural and political requirements. Use format shown in Figure 3-3 attached below to present your nonfunctional requirements.

2.2 Use Cases

Include a minimum of three use cases that demonstrates the important processes that the system must support. For each use case, utilize the use case format shown in Figure 4-11 attached below.

2.3 Process Models

Develop and show a set of process models for training video streaming website. At a minimum, you need to include:

• – One context diagram
• – One level 0 diagram
• – Three level 1 diagrams

2.4 Data Models

Develop and show an entity relationship diagram for the training video streaming website.

3. REFERENCE SECTION

This section will have a list of references used in the report. Note that in addition to references in this section, the report also needs to have specific in-text citations in the body of the report.

PROPER CITATIONS AND REFERENCES:

1. Be creative in presenting your planning and analysis. You should research, glean and include materials necessary to appropriately communicate and understanding of the system. You need to write the report in your own words and give proper credits to sources you use.

2. If you quote a source word-for-word, do the following:

1. Put a pair of quotation marks around the quoted sentence(s), And give the citation (author, date, and page number) in parenthesis directly in text right after the quoted sentence(s).
2. Put the full reference at the end of the report under the references section.

3. If you paraphrase a source, do the following:

1. Give the citation (author and date) in parenthesis directly in the text right after the paraphrased sentence(s).
2. Put the full reference at the end of the report under the References section.

4. All references listed under the References section must be cited in the text. There should be no “orphan” reference in the References section.

5.Remember: its not enough to simply include the full reference at the end of the report under the References section. YOU HAVE TO PROVIDE THE IN-TEXT CITATION DIRECTLY IN THE TEXT ALSO.

WHAT TO DO:

1. The report must be typed.
2. The various diagrams must be drawn using software such as Visio. Visio is easier to use for drawing diagrams.
3. Draw tour own diagrams, don’t copy them from manufatures’ website.
4. Use the reference section to list all sources (online and in hardcopy form) or materials used.
5. The length should be between 1,500 and 2,000 words (not counting the Reference section, tables, and figures).

WHAT NOT TO DO:

1. Do not clutter your report with unnecessary drawings and diagrams that do not add to the substance and clarity of the report.
2. Do not blindly copy manufactures diagrams
3. Do not plagiarize.
