Using the Internet as your primary medium for collecting information, you will be selecting a public and a private entity that you will explore. The purpose of this assignment is to become familiar with both a governmental entity, such as a city, county, or state government, and a privately owned entity, such as a private university or large corporate employer.

Your assignment is to identify their organizational approach to risk management and to compare the two entities. You may choose your own approach for finding the differences between the two entities. For instance, you may look at the public entity and draw the conclusion that their organizational mission might be protecting lives or public health, while the privately held organization may have a more central focus on mitigating liability. Using your newly found knowledge from the readings, compare and contrast at least three separate areas of their respective risk management approaches. The purpose of this assignment is to get you to think about how things may look very similar and may have similar titles on activities like risk management, yet there really are differences that can be compared.
