My research critic is on a comparative research study on lorazepam (Ativan) as compared to chlordiazepoxide (Librium) for safety and efficacy. According to the PhRMA website, PhRMA offers financial research grants for “Starter Research Grants) to individual independent researchers for medication safety and efficacy. It is of great importance for nurses to understand how the drugs the administer affect their clients with emphasis on dosage, safety and efficacy.

Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) along with the Emergency Nurses Association have partnered up to provide a Foundation Grant for nursing research initiatives. This grant will provide funding for nursing research that helps in the advancement of the emergency nursing practice.The Sigma Foundation's mission is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. The Sigma Foundation serves as an inspiration to others like myself which is why I chose this grant for my topic. The Sigma Foundation encourages nurses to further their education and their knowledge of nursing practice by providing nursing grants for nursing scientists who want to make a difference but may not have the resources to contribute to the field.

The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) is the premier professional nursing association, as they are dedicated to defining the future of emergency nursing. In order to qualify for the nursing grant the principal investigator must be a registered nurse with a master's degree, although team members may belong to any discipline and are not required to have master's degrees. A completed research application package and signed research agreement must be submitted. The research project must be ready to start or have already been started and at least one applicant should have previous research experience of the research process
