Discussion 1
According to paramount scholars such as Fitzpatrick, Shete, andRichards (n.p), emotional intelligence is the ability of individualsto recognize and manage their emotions as well as those of others.Notably, the components of emotional intelligence include socialskills, self-regulation, motivation, and self-awareness. This paperseeks to expound on the behaviors a person with self-awareness wouldillustrate when managing groups and provide an example of the same.
Notably, self-awareness is the capacity of an individual to know hisor her emotions, feelings, character, strengths, and weaknesses. Onebehavior that a person with strong self-realization would demonstrateis confidence (Tyczkowski et al. 175). An individual with strongself-awareness can demonstrate confidence by being assertive andtaking courageous steps to make critical decisions within the groupthey lead. Moreover, a confident manager is open to ideas. Such aleader considers the diverse opinions of other people that will leadto a better decision. By so doing, the subordinates are motivated tocooperate with the leader towards achieving success. For example, whena nurse manager wants to make changes in a particular nursing unit heor she should consider the opinions of other nurses in the department.
Concurrently, persons who possess self-awareness exhibit empathy.Such individuals can understand and relate to the emotions andfeelings of the members of the group they are managing. A leader whois empathetic listens to the subordinates and eventually creates agood rapport with them. The relationship builds trust within thegroup thus, enhancing collaboration and increasing efficiency at work.A person with strong self-awareness comprehends that the decision heor she makes also affects the group he or she is leading (Tyczkowskiet al. 175). Sometimes people may be undermined by the decisions of amanager. Thus, the individual should make sure that his/herconclusions do not harm people. For example, a nurse leader withstrong self-awareness involves nurses in the decision-making processbefore making the ultimate decisions to avoid making choices that canaffect them.
Remarkably, self-control is another behavior that a person withself- awareness should illustrate when leading and managing a group. The individual should control his or her emotions and moods.Such a leader does not act out of anger, disappointments, andfrustration. Instead, if in such situations they wait until they arein control so that they can respond to the case (Fitzpatrick, Sheteand Richards n.p). For example, if a nurse makes a mistake, a nurseleader should not shout at the nurse, but should talk to him/hercalmly so that he or she can correct the error. As a result, such aleader is more effective and can inspire the group he or she ismanaging thus, increasing work efficiency.
Additionally, a person with self-awareness is motivated, focused, and ambitious when managing a group. Self-actualized leaders areintrinsically motivated to accomplish their goals (Spano-Szekely etal. 104). For example, a leader who has an ambition of changing theorganization, he or she will be motivated to execute jobs within theirability to reach there. Additionally, they utilize their strengths toaccomplish their goals. As a result, the person acts as a role modelof the group he is leading. To sum up, self-awareness is thecornerstone of leadership because the aspect begins within anindividual. In the rear, self-awareness distinguishes ordinary leadersfrom great leaders.

Discussion 3
The definition of self-awareness, as stated in our book by Huber isthe “ability to read one's own emotional state and be aware ofone's own mood and how this affects staff relationships” (Huber,2014, p. 6). The behaviors of someone with strong self-awarenesswho is leading and managing groups, would be exhibited in variousways, such as:
Knowing which emotions they are feeling and why; understand thelinks between their feelings and what they do and say; recognize whichfeelings affect their performance; by having an awareness ofone’s own values and goals; and by drawing appropriateboundaries with others (Gessler & Ferron, 2017). Goodleaders should also have strong emotional, interpersonal, and socialintelligence skills that will contribute to the effectiveness of theirleadership role (Huber, 2014).
For example, a good leader would have employee meetings wherediscussions and input from the employees is valued. A leader wouldlisten and provide answers that are not lead by emotion, but thoughtout rational discussions. Consideration involving the input fromothers before implementing changes would demonstrate good leadership qualities.

Discussion 6
Self-awareness is the ability to read “one’s emotionalstate and be aware of one’s mood and how this affects staffrelationships” (Huber, 2014, p. 3). Someone with strongself-awareness behaviors would display an understanding of theirfeelings. By knowing this, they can understand what triggers them toupset or angry. This is important for those in management andleadership positions as they deal with individuals from differentperspectives and ideas.
A manager and leader have to be able and willing to listen to theother person’s concerns or ideas so that they can apply them totheir work environment. Another characteristic is knowing their limit. If the manager or leader is feeling tired or overwhelmed, it isessential for them to take a break. Because if they don’t, theyare putting themselves at risk for being short tempered, andprojecting their emotions, onto someone else. Other characteristicsinclude values, confidence in their employees, and a sense of security(Huber, 2014).
For example, a good leader will display confidence in who they areas a leader. They will be aware of one’s mood and know when totake a break or “fix” their attitude before they causeconflict with one of their employee’s. A good leader will alsodisplay a sense of security. Also, a good leader will listen to whattheir employee’s input and consider their request, as well asconsider their own beliefs and make a final decision based on whatwill benefit their work environment and coworkers. A leader andmanager should be the ones to promote a comfortable and safeenvironment, where they can share their concerns, ideas, andultimately, just be themselves.
