In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse

is about Jimmy's journey to connect with his Lakota heritage and develop his individual identity as a Lakota boy living in America. By telling the story of Crazy Horse from the Sioux point of view, Marshall provides an alternative perspective on the conflicts between white colonizers and the indigenous people they displaced than is usually presented in American history classes.
