. Your forum discussion this week revolves around the emerging social consciousness that is called "Sustainability." On page 244, your book describes sustainability in terms of producing goods:

Sustainable Production is the creation of goods and services using processes and systems that are: non-polluting; conserving of energy and natural resources; economically efficient; safe and healthful for workers, communities, and consumers; and socially and creatively rewarding for all working people.” (Stevenson, p.244)

Your task this week is to search the internet for a company that has taken sustainability very seriously. Before posting, look over the postings already in the forum and try to find a company that no one else has already reported on. Once you have found the company you believe is an exemplar of sustainability, address the following:

1.Describe the company and it's products

2.Discuss the efforts this company has taken in these areas of sustainability :

1.Non- or low-emissions footprint

2.Conservation of energy and natural resources

3.Economical efficiency

4.Healthful for workers, the community, and consumers

5.Creative rewarding for workers. 300 WORDS, APA REFERENCES AND INTEXT CIATATION

I.- Complete your reading assignment

II.- Solve the following problems:

1.- A force of 200.0 N is exerted on a 1,000 N object. The object moves a distance of 30.0 m. How much work was done on the car?

2.- (a) How many horsepower is a 25 W lightbulb? (b) How many Watts is in a 1,250,000 hp aircraft engine?

3.- Compare the kinetic energy of a car moving at 20.0 m/s to the kinetic energy of the same car moving at 25 m/s.

4.- A small sports car and a pickup truck start coasting down a 10.0 m hill together, side by side. Assuming no friction, what is the velocity of each vehicle halfway down the hill?

PHYSICS FORUM

A perpetuum mobile (Latin for "perpetual motion machine") is an apparatus capable of
doing work without supply of energy.

It has been the dream of inventors since ancient times and continues to pop up in sketches
and drawings of would-be inventors every now and then but in 1775 the Royal Academy of
Sciences in Paris issued the statement that the Academy "will no longer accept or deal with
proposals concerning perpetual motion". (Why?) Please look for information about perpetual motion machines, select one and post a message describing it. Did it work? 300 WORDS, APA REFERENCES AND INTEXT CIATATION
