Hi, I need to do some corrections to an Essay. I'm attaching the word doc with the corrections my professor wants me to do. FYI The essay is 8 pages long. Also, notice that I have identified the claim and its 4 reasons in the doc where the corrections are, you should follow them.
These are the main corrections to do and they are also at the end of the word documment.:
- read the comments on the right side of the document very carefully
- Work on the introduction, weak and it needs more background information and connect the date speech to colleges
- Add a thesis/ claim… add 3-4 reasons to the claim. The claim is the last sentence in the introduction
- Work on the flow and organization of your essay. The order of the body paragraph must follow the order of the claim.
- The body paragraphs NEEDS organization: first start with the topic sentence to summarize the main ideas of the paragraph. Start with the first idea, state it, and introduce evidence. Then go the 2nd idea state it and introduce evidence… etc
- Organize the essay itself write introduction, body paragraph (3-4 reason) then introduce the rebuttal, then find a solution, lastly is the conclusion
- Work on the topic sentence and transitions
- Add more supporting ideas where I have specified
- Add a rebuttal: so you need a stronger topic sentence to reflect that. In the rebuttal you must state the 2 or 3 opposing views in the topic sentence. In the body of the paragraph you take each opposing point, and state the evidence they use. Then you must counter their views by stating ideas and evidence that proves the weakness of their argument Rebuttal: must be more organized, start with the opposing views and present their evidence, THEN you must introduce your refutation ideas and present your evidence.

- Review in text citation rules
- MUST add more quotations
- Review identifying tags/signal phrase rules
- Strengthen your conclusion: restate all main ideas including the rebuttal and solution.
- Review sentence structure, comma use, splice sentences, fused sentences, the use of “you,” semi colon, spelling, using wrong words, hyphen, and ‘s
