Segregation, Martin Luther King Jr. and his Assassination – Research and explore the following: 1) What was segregation and where was it practiced? 2) How did the American Church look upon segregation – was it looked upon differently by Americans in different regions of the USA and, if so, by whom and why? 3) Who was Martin Luther King Jr. and what Biblical motivations did he use to change the course of American history? 4) What ideas/principles come out of this turbulent time and how can they help the next generation of Christians as they seek to influence social change in America?

Understanding the project: Your final assignment is a project designed to help you understand history—how the facts of the events in your history books are about real people in real life relationships. By the time you complete this project, it is hoped that you will not only see the event you have researched in a different light but that you will view history in a totally new light – the light of God’s workings among and for the people of our nation.

• 8 page minimum of content (excludes Cover and Reference Page)
• APA format – follow the formatting guidelines according to the 6^th edition of APA.
• Cover Page – includes Project Selection, Student’s Name, Date, Course Name, Course Section, Professor’s Name
• Reference Page – includes a Reference Page for the project with no less than eight (8) historical reference sources AND three (3) interviewees. Give priority to the following items in the research of this project: letters, diaries, journals, newspaper articles, and eye-witness accounts. Wikipedia does not count as a referenced source. The student is seeking to gain a first-hand knowledge of the project as much as possible. As such, the student will avoid, as much as possible, the use of third-party opinions and commentaries on the event and issues covered by this project.
• Extensive use of the both research and personal interview – the paper should be at least 30% research and 30% interview insights. As this is a documentary project, be sure that you appropriately use and source your interview material.
• The documentary will possess a “Reflective” section, which will allow you to explain the lessons learned both historically, spiritually, emotionally, psychologically, and politically. This section of the project will be a highly personal reflection of what you have learned from this project – it will constitute 20% of the final project.
• An introduction to the event and the project – no more than 10% of the project.
• Conclusions from the event and the project – no more than 10% of the project.
• The final paper will be submitted.
