The “2017 America First – A Blueprint to Make America Great Again” presents a budget that mainly will go to the Department of Defense, U.S. Immigration Department, Homeland Security, and the Department of Justice. In order for President Trump to increase the budget of the listed departments he would have to decrease the budget in other departments. From the looks of the budget the economy will be in trouble and in total debt (due to GDP & economic growth) in the ear future (2018-2025). An increase on the state’s population does impact the three highest discretionary spending accounts. If the population increases drastically that means more individuals would be seeking to utilize Medicare/Medicaid programs, Unemployment programs, Social Security programs, Welfare programs, and health insurance programs. The more individuals that utilize entitlement programs more money/budget would be spent on those programs (which would be a great/heavy impact being it is already stated most of the budget goes on Entitlement programs). Then on the other hand for example, if the population increase and more individuals do utilize Entitlement programs and they get cut like what is projected in President Trumps budget, of course this will anger many citizens due to the lack of essential/necessary benefits (Wk#1 E-Activity, 2018). For the State of South Carolina ,the year 2017 – 2025, the increase of the population will have an impact on the three highest discretionary spending accounts. The discretionary spending account is $1.203 trillion, however it is up to Congress to implement the budget. According to research Congress put out a 2 year discretionary spending bill (base budget ). Two days afterward Presidents Trump budget asked for $1.092 trillion for departments base budget ( Masters, Henry 2018 ).
