Question Description

. This essay will be a compare-and-contrast format in which you examine the multiple readings for the Food Ethics essay in ENGL 101. You will analyze and evaluate the body of sources for that unit.

2. Specifically, your essay must reference the following sources: "Framework For Making Ethical Decisions"," At a Slaughterhouse Some Things Never Die", Harvest of Shame, "Slaves No More", at least one of the National Geographic articles on the subject, John Oliver's video on food waste and either alternative article ( the conversation.com or takepart.com)

3. Your essay should note areas of agreement among the sources as well as where they differ from each other.

4. Your essay should also note the authors' backgrounds and reputation as well as the date of the source. What influence do any of those elements have on the validity of the source? On your acceptance of that author's argument?

5. Finally, you should clearly explain your response AS A READER to each of the sources. Which one(s) did you find most convincing and why? Which one(s) were confusing or unclear to you and why? Which one(s) gave you the best understanding of the subject (possibly not the same sources you liked most) and why? Please be specific in your answers.

6. You should quote and paraphrase from your sources with appropriate parenthetical citation and, of course, a well-written Works Cited.

7. Your essay should end with a recommendation regarding the BEST source(s) of information on the subject of food ethics/waste. therefore, you should have ranked the sources according to some criteria which will be clear to your reader (ie, visual interest, clarity of writing, compelling arguments, use of statistics, style of prose, etc.)
