STUDENT POST – RESPOND TO THIS

Recently, The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau fined Experian; one of the largest credit reporting agency $3 million dollar for selling mis-leading credit scores to consumers. Experian was accused of selling scores that were significantly different from what creditors actually used when making credit decisions. For example, a consumer would purchase a credit report with score directly form Experian and the score is 620, which is considered fair, but when they go and apply for credit the score that is returned is 496, which is considerably lower and puts them in a completely different category which bad and high risk.

I do agree with this fine, because it is mis-leading to consumers. Experian should have made it clear to the public that what they were purchasing was not what a creditor would use to determine credit worthiness.
