1) Chapter 7 SSH/Telenet

Telnet is a terminal emulation protocol that allows a user to login to another machine and see the remote computer in a window on screen. It's text only, but the user can still manage files as if they were logged on to their local machine. Telnet is unsecured which means if a packet is sent, anyone could intercept because the data transferred would be in plain text including usernames and passwords. Secure Shell (SSH) can be used to encrypt traffic, protecting the data including passwords from unwanted eyes.

2) Chapter 7 Help I can't get on the Internet!!

This subject comes from one of the real world scenarios in this chapter which briefly discusses what to try when customers report no Internet. I've done this before and most of the time its just unplugging and replugging the modem and back in. The text recommends checking the ip address by using the command prompt and typing ipconfig. If the ip address is not correct and or the connection is not back then you can release it by typing ipcong/release which makes that ip address unavailable. To request a new one , at the next command prompt you would then type ipconfig/renew which should generate another ip address.

3) Pluralsight Introduction to the Protocol: IPV4 vs. IPv6

IP specifies that each host is assigned a unique number known as the host's Internet Protocol address, IP address, or Internet address. IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses, and IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses. When sending a packet across the Internet, the sender must specify its own IP address (the source address) as well as the address of the intended recipient (the destination address).

The challenge found with IPv4 is the IP address space. When invented 4.3 billion address was not enough. However, when IPv6 was created they made sure enough space would be available for the future. Who knew undecillion was even a real numerical word.

The Open System Interconnection (OSI) model is a standardized method of describing network protocols. It is also a helpful troubleshooting tool.

The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model is a theoretical way of classifying and talking bout the process of sending data on a network. It provides a common language, divides networking tasks into logical layers for easier comprehension and aids in troubleshooting. It also allows for specialization of features at different levels, promotes standards between networks and devices. The OSI model is a 7 layer process where each layer depends on the other. The video shows that data travels from the sending computer in this order of the process:Application>Presentation>Session>Transport>Network>Data Link>Physical with each layer adding in information. Data then travels in reverse order to the receiving computer through the same seven layers but this time each corresponding layer takes that information.
