Written Assignment: Classroom Management Plan:

Throughout this module, you have become familiar with some practices and issues involved in classroom management. While it is certainly not possible to be prepared for each and every challenge that will arise during your teaching career, having a general sense of what to expect will help you as you get started.

Your Plan

For this assignment, you will develop a classroom management plan that could be introduced during the first week of the school year. Your plan should be positive and grade appropriate, as it will set the tone for the entire school year or semester. Please be sure to include the following information:

• The grade level that the plan is intended for.
• A classroom expectation sheet to share with the students.
  • Please try to keep this to a maximum of two pages, 12-point font.
• A letter or form that could be sent home to parents/guardians during the first week of school, that outlines classroom expectations and consequences.
  • Consider how you can make this positive.
• A one-page rationale in which you explain the expectations and consequence you have included in the parent/guardian letters and the student handout.

Questions to Consider

As you create your classroom management plan, it may be helpful to consider the following questions. For this assignment, you will not answer these questions individually, but you may use them to guide your thought process.

• How do you anticipate that your room will look and be organized?How will you make your classroom a place of interest, creativity, and discovery?
• What will be your overall classroom behavior expectations?
• How will you develop, communicate, negotiate, and enforce these expectations?
• What will be your general homework, quiz, and assignment policy?
• How will you announce assignments, tests, and projects?
• What other policies and behavioral requirements do you expect of students?
