1- Globalization, theprocess by which businesses or other organizations developinternational influence or start operating on an international scale.For my career in the in the business world globalization is on the upwhich in effect opens up many opportunities in the work force. In theworld now a day everything is changing and becoming more technologysavvy. With this it has the threat of changing the jobs andmanagement techniques. With the new trend of bringing manufacturing,money, and jobs back to the USA it opens up the job opportunities andallowing managers the ability explore what they think may help sales andproduction.
2-Afterreading chapter 5, I have realized that my ethical grounding revolvesaround assuring my conscious is clear. I could not handle the guilt onmyself if I did something that is not right. I am someone who caresdeeply about people, animals, and the environment, so I could never workfor or encourage a company or a company’s employees to take advantageof any of them. Because I genuinely care about people, I find respectto be extremely important. I, as a manager, would want all employees tofeel that I respect them and that I listen to what they are saying. Ialso think it is essential that the customer feels very respected andheard by the company, which is what I would practice in a managementposition, and I would hope that employees would follow my lead.
3-What I would do, I would rather buy an existing business. I feel thatthis would be the best for me because of two reasons. First I would domy research to make sure it has a successful past and if it would have asuccessful future at the same time. Second, I would look at the futureplans to see if we could expand. Last, I would leave the same crewmembers because I wouldn't like to change anything so the old customerswould keep coming back. I would also love to expand the business byinvolving new promotion in order for new customers to come in.
4-In a borderless world framed by globalization, some opportunities thatmay present themselves would be the ability to work for a global firm orbusiness. Since most large businesses operate on a world scale,management is needed everywhere that the business operates.
Asa potential manager some environmental threats would be the laws thatprohibit certain business practices. For example, in the auto industry,The U.S. wants to keep jobs in the U.S.A but this is not always donebecause manufacturing in other countries is cheaper and often containsless regulations.
5-Theethical grounding which is going to guide me as a manager would berespect and honesty. The basic phrase is in the ethics states: "Treatothers as you would like to be treated yourself.". Respect and honestyare important feelings which are appreciated not only in management butalso in personal life. If you show respect to everyone then you will seewhat attitude people will have about you, it includes everyone:teammates, consumers, and others. Honesty helps to deserve a goodreputation because if the whole team knows that they can rely on you,then you can be sure that you may have a huge potential in your careerladder.
6- Iwould much rather start my own business, the reason being that bothsound like major financial investments. However, I'm confident that Ihave several ideas that I could make profitable in the market andthrough the process of starting my own business I would be morededicated and invested. When the business is your own, from nothing, itis far more personal and therefore has much more value to you. I'vealways been the type of guy to want to help build something, like alegacy, rather than just join a preexisting one. I think it's comes withits own unique set of risks but you are far more connected with yourclients and your employees then you would be stepping into abuilt company. I think it's that process and journey that would evermake the idea of owning my own business worth it.
