The assignment in Unit 8 asked you to summarize the work done through the multidisciplinary approach and to develop a course of action that was a synthesis of the ideas shared and with a solution that integrates multiple means for addressing needs. If your process took the sharing aspect seriously, and your participants listened to each other, you now have a course of action that has a much greater chance of succeeding than one that anyone might have arrived at on his or her own. The last step in the multidisciplinary approach is to communicate that course of action in a way that engages broad support your assignment is to develop a presentation that does exactly that.

A multidisciplinary human services professional may need to communicate the same solution to multiple groups clients, family, professionals, and perhaps others. In each case, the language and approach need to be focused in a way that will communicate effectively with the people involved.

For this assignment you will create a Power Point presentation about the Sheldon case that communicates what you learned from this case to a broader audience. Your audience for this presentation will be a group of hospice professionals wanting to learn more about how to handle hospice related issues. Keep in mind that the goal of this presentation is to take what you have learned and communicate this to an audience that might not be directly related to the multidisciplinary team.

Your presentation should include the following:

• Identify and clearly communicate the goals for your presentation and the reasons for them.
• Identify the main themes that were taken from the case and communicate the importance of each theme. In this section consider the following:
  • Conflicts.
  • Challenges.
  • How the multidisciplinary approach is used to arrive at the identified themes.
• Identify and communicate recommendations for addressing the main themes:
  • An approximate time frame.
  • People who need to be involved.
  • The resources required.
• Example from the Sheldon case to support ideas.
