Standing in the Shoes of a Renaissance Master
For this assignment students will stand in the shoes of either Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci, in the sense that they will try to do the kind of art made by these artists.
Option 1: The Michelangelos will carve something out of soap. You may carve anything, but the process must be subtractive and the sculpture must be in the round. As you carve, think about the process Michelangelo went through creating a statue out of marble.
Option 2: The Leonardos will draw or paint a image using linear perspective AND atmospheric (aerial) perspective. You must also include one type of object (tree, person, building) that is shown at different distances (size differentiation). Again, you may choose any subject, but you must identify in your paragraph where the vanishing point is, and how you created atmospheric perspective, and where you used size differentiation.
You will not be graded on artistic ability but on how well you met the requirements stated above.

- Two to three pictures of your artwork: one of the work in progress and one (or two views if sculpture) of the completed project.
- A short 150 word paragraph describing how you met the requirements as listed above.
