You will be writing a 3 paragraph Descriptive Essay. In this essay, you must follow the format we studied in class. You should have a topic at the top of the first paragraph: the introduction. In the middle of the introduction, you should provide the reader a feeling, or dominant impression, about your topic. You will need a thesis statement that supports your dominant impression. Look back at your class notes on how to write an appropriate thesis statement. (Between 5-10 sentences.)

The second paragraph, the body, should include details in every sentence. Use descriptive adjectives, some can be found in our example from the writing book. Each sentence in the body should be n a logical order that takes the reader through your point-of-view so we can understand your dominate impression better. In this paragraph, you are expected to provide (between 8 -10 sentences of) description.

The conclusion paragraph should begin with your “restated” thesis. The next few sentences after that should summarize a few of your body paragraph’s points and how those points connect to your dominant impression or overarching feeling about your topic. The last sentence is a final comment about your topic that leaves the reader with a strong understanding of how this topic is important to you. ( between 5-10 sentences).

• This graded essay must show your skill at writing a 3-paragraph essay of at least 28-30 sentences.
• You must submit this essay twice to tutors. Once to 24/7 online and once to a tutor on campus in one of our writing centers. Neglecting to this twice will result in in a non-passing grade. You must turn in proof that you worked with a tutor when you turn in your essay in its final stage.

The TOPIC:

Thinking about a place that you really love(d) and feel/felt comfortable with, write a descriptive essay following the above outline. Include specific detail in the body paragraph that offers the reader a clear description of your topic. You must use adjectives in each of your body paragraphs sentences.
