Recruiting the best candidates is important to helping organizations reach their full potential. To determine potential candidates that come from outside the company hiring managers employ a number of different methods. External recruitment opens you up to anyone who’s looking for a job. Introducing new people to the company culture, this allows the business to benefit from up to date new and creative ideas that they may have. Three characteristics of a job where external recruitment would be ideal would be production labor, call centers, and jobs that require you to drive long distances such as trucking companies. I say jobs with these characteristics because you don’t need much experience with either. You are trained to learn the job they need you to do and they give you a time frame to complete it. Hiring external applicants means they will have a limited understanding of the company and its operations. This prevents them from being able to adjust quickly because they must first learn the basics of the company. Another disadvantage is the cost for advertising for these external applicants. I’m pretty sure indeed and other similar cites charge businesses to list jobs on their website.

The quality and length of your responses are important to how effectively they contribute to class discussions. The quality of your responses during discussions is an important way for you to demonstrate your comprehension of course material. "I agree" and "Yes, that's correct" are NOT quality responses and will NOT count. Quality responses illustrate your level of understanding of the subject by expanding upon the original statement, whether it is a discussion question or a comment made in class. Likewise, if you do not fully understand a particular subject, here is your chance to ask a question about it. Legitimate questions about course subjects usually generate further class discussions. Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure are expected in all of your assignments. I encourage you to carefully edit all assignments that you post. If any words or ideas are used that do not represent your original words or ideas, you must cite all relevant sources. If your responses are quite short, it shows that you do not have enough knowledge of the subject to converse adequately. This implies that more reading is necessary. The reply should be a paragraph or more. will not tolerate acts of falsification, misrepresentation, or deception. Such acts of intellectual dishonesty include, but are not limited to, cheating or copying, fabricating data or citations, stealing examinations, the unauthorized use of instructor editions of textbooks, taking an exam for another student or having another student take an exam intended for oneself, tampering with the academic work of another student, submitting another’s work as one’s own, facilitating other students’ acts of academic dishonesty, using internet sources without citation and plagiarizing.

Plagiarism Policy: The following actions constitute plagiarism:

Using someone’s words and ideas and presenting them as your own original thoughts

Using someone’s exact words and ideas without placing them inside quotation marks, using in in-text citations, and including a reference page

Using someone’s words or ideas without citing them in in-text references (parenthetical references) and on a reference page

Using someone’s words or ideas, changing the wording (paraphrasing), and failing to cite them in in-text references and on a reference page

Submitting the same assignment for two different classes (self-plagiarism) without the professor’s knowledge

Plagiarism may be intentional (purposely passing over another’s ideas as one’s own) or unintentional (inadvertently failing to cite someone’s ideas and/ or words). Either one MUST be reported to Academic Student Affairs.

Unintentional plagiarism usually occurs because a writer is unfamiliar with the idea that he or she has to give a source credit for his or her ideas by using in-text references and a reference page.
