a. Setting up data marts would probably help with the accessibility of information. What type of data marts would you suggest setting up? Make sure you explain who will benefit from the data marts you suggest.

b. For the data marts you identified, list the data that should be stored in each data mart and explain how the regional managers could make use of that information to manage their group of stores.

a). Data marts refer to focused single operational areas of an organization that contains subsets of data stored in a warehouse. They play a major role in ensuring that data is stored in a manner that can easily be accessed. As a person given the mandate of ensuring proper accessibility of data through the installation of data marts. There are different data marts that I will give priority. Analysis data marts and the SQL-based data marts are the important data marts that I will ensure that they are implemented. The regional managers, employees and the security personnel are the people that the data marts will help (Owczarczuk, 2010). It is clear that with data marts, the access to information will be easy for both employees and the regional managers. It is also clear that security personnel will be able to monitor all the systems and therefore ensure that the security of the information is upheld.

b). Analysis based data marts can be used in the storage of various statistics concerning sales in different stores. It can also store the prospects of a store in the future. The information from analysis based data can be of great help to the regional managers. It can help them access data about the forecasts for the sales and therefore put in place strategies that will help in the improvement of sales for the organization. It can also help in displaying the statistics of interest and therefore quicken the decision-making skills thus improving the operations of an organization.

SQL-based data marts, on the other hand, can be essential for the storage of information showing a report of all the activities being carried out in an organization. These as well include the sales and different employees working for an organization (Owczarczuk, 2010). The information stored in SQL-based data marts is essential for regional managers. It helps in defining the table indexes thus helping in speeding up data access. It also helps in granting access to selected database users or roles thus helping regional managers monitor the activities easily.

The data mart is an access pattern specific to the warehouse environments. It is usually used in accessing the client's data. It is a subset of the warehouse and it is normally oriented to a particular business line. For instance, the company's management has complained about the difficulty of accessing the information from the data warehouse. The hired team have come to realize that setting up data mart will solve the problem of information inaccessibility (Jukic, Vrbsky, & Nestorov,2016).

The type of data mart which I will suggest is a logical data mart. This data mart will be acting as a subset of the data warehouse. Also using this data mart the information will be updated automatically. Moreover, I will also suggest dependent data mart. This data mart will enable sourcing of the company's data from a single data warehouse. And by doing so it will allow centralization benefits to the company. In the company, the dependent data marts can be created in different ways. First is that it can be created in a way that the user can able to access both the data mart and data warehouse depending on its needs or where access is limited to data mart only. And lastly is through data junk, this is where data begins with a common source, but data can be junked. The dart mart will benefit the users and the company itself. Users can access information from both data warehouse and data mart and it will allow the company to centralize the way they access the information (Rianda & Adrian2015).

The data which must be stored in the data mart is data with information regarding inventory management, procurement of inventory, sales, and marketing. The regional manager will use the information in classifying the data according to the subject and giving access according to those divisions for sales, finances, marketing, and inventory.
