2. Read the Criminalist BPA mock case report and see the listed evidence items in the report (which match the evidence seen in the video).. Criminalist report is attached to this assignment, at the top of this page.
3. Read AOJ 202 Bloodstain Pattern Mock Scene Analysis document (attached to this assignment, at the top of the page.) Use this document to analyze this case. Type your name and answer the questions at the bottom of the document and save. When finished, submit the assignment by due date.

Tips on getting an "A" on this assignment:

1) Read through the assignment and the supplemental material for the assignment thoroughly.

2) One of the questions in the assignment asks for a list of all evidence: direct, circumstantial, and scientific. Look at the bloodstain pattern report… there is a list of the physical evidence in the crime scene in that report; you can copy/paste the list for part of your answer. The bloodstains are also physical evidence. Read the scenario – the key players provide testimonial evidence, which should also be listed.

3) Answer the questions THOROUGHLY… Provide as much detail as you can in your responses. If not, you won't get full credit. I don't make corrections and allow you to re-write the assignment.

4) Do not wait until the last minute! This case requires you to watch a crime scene video, read a bloodstain pattern report, and read a scenario (and possibly re-read everything more than once). Once you have a solid understanding of the case, then you'll be able to answer the questions.

1. List the direct and circumstantial evidence of this case. List the scientific evidence of this case.

2. Who should the Prosecutor call as a witness and why (list all witnesses that should be called by the Prosecutor)? (Tip: Law enforcement and crime lab employees are considered witnesses.)

3. Would any witnesses be voir dired; i.e., would any witness be asked about their education training and experience? Explain.

4. How would the prosecutor lay the foundation for the evidence in this case (who would he/she question about the evidence)?

5. Does Krueger have a privileged relationship with Ingalls? Could Ingalls testify against Krueger if she works out a deal with the Prosecution? Explain.

6. What evidence should the defense try to get thrown out and why?

7. What type of cross-examination should the defense use against the prosecution witnesses (list the name of the witness & the strategy that the defense should use when cross-examining the witness. Assume Ingalls is a witness for the Prosecution.)

8. Would character be an issue that the defense would want to bring up against any of the Prosecution witnesses? Explain.

9. Do you believe the jury would find Krueger guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? Explain why you feel this way. If Ingalls can’t work out a deal with the Prosecution, do you think she would be found guilty? Explain.

10. If there is a conviction, do you see any issues that might be brought up in appeals? Explain.
