Diversity training is important to organizations in helping their employees to not only recognize, but also in being tolerant of others. I find this topic to be interesting since I grew up and still live in Hawaii, and it is the norm here to work with others that come from different races and cultures. Because there are so many cultures here, it is also the norm to learn and understand other people's culture, and also some of the language. I was brought up to always respect other people's cultures and beliefs, and it has helped in my career. I further agree with you that having a diverse workforce could also present many challenges. Since another person's way of thinking may be very different from the way I perceive something, I always try and understand why they think the way that they do, and it usually stems from their upbringing. I have always looked at it as an opportunity to learn about their culture, and it usually helped in creating a more positive culture for the organization.
