For those of you in practice for more than 10 years, how has the use of informatics and technology changed over your practice? How have these changes impacted your practice?

Professional nurses “must have basic competence in technical skills, which includes the use of computers, as well as the application of patient care technologies such as monitors, data gathering devices, and other technological supports for patient care interventions.” A knowledge base of information management, technology, and the need for changes in workflow is required for practicing at the highest level in healthcare. (AACN, 2008, p. 17)
