Primary Source Assignment:

You will split into groups for 3 primary source discussions.

Each time, 2 members will be assigned the gathering of information and write a one-page summary. You will decide who will write which primary source assignment. Notes of worth, collective analysis, subjects of disagreements or debates from the discussions should be included.

Some topics might be included such as:

• What is your document about?
• Who wrote it and when?
• What was the purpose for the document?
• What does the document tell us about the time period we are studying?
• What does the document tell us about the author?
• What is the author’s point of view? How does their point of view shape the document?

Your summary should be written in a standard academic format using a scholarly tone. If you need to cite any of primary or secondary sources that came up in your discussion, please do so with Chicago-style footnote citations and a complete bibliography. Neither the notes nor the bibliography count towards the page limits.

Formatting and Submission:

Your summary must be one page, double spaced in 12 pt, New Times Roman font with one-inch margins

This assignment must be turned in on Canvas as PDFs or Word documents.

Late papers will be graded down 5 points per day
