Each student will survey the healthcare system and provide a legal and administrative analysis of a current healthcare topic. The Student will then present the topic both in written format and in a an oral presentation to the other students. The selected topic must be of relevance to the Student, as a health professional. Therefore, issues that are familiar and challenging in the Student’s current position are good choices. Please note, however, that the topic must be specific. (( For example, an overview of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is too general; however, a review of current ACA eligibility issues is not )). Students should include a description of the topic as well as their own personal reflections.. Page guideline: 2-3 pages.

The Student will also be required to provide an oral presentation to the class during one of our on-campus sessions. Each presentation may be adapted from the written submission but may not be read verbatim. The presentation should be designed to engage, educate and challenge the class. Think of the oral presentation as an in-service or continuing education presentation. Presentations should be approximately five minutes with three minutes additional for questions and follow-up. Students are encouraged to incorporate thoughtful questions for the class to encourage follow-up discussion after the presentation.
