Please review a recent publication (generally within the past six to twelve months) – such as a news article, blog, book, etc. – on a topic related to our studies. Select an article related to one of the following topics from our studies the first two weeks of class :

• The role of Supply & Demand in setting market price – articles demonstrating examples of supply or demand shocks ( such as natural disasters) and their impact on the market price of a good or group of goods due to market imbalances caused by the shock .
• Emerging Markets – articles related to new or innovative companies that have found a niche in emerging markets domestically or internationally
• Gross Domestic Product (GDP) – Articles analyzing the latest GDP data ( 1st or 2nd Quarter 2018). How much has the economy expanded quarter to quarter and year over year ? What sectors have demonstrated the strongest growth rates and what is behind this trend. What is the GDP growth rate expected for the remainder of the year ?
• Unemployment Rate – Analysis on the current unemployment rate. How does the labor force participation rate impact the overall employment picture ? What areas of the economy are labor trends improving ? What are the underlying causes ?
• Comparative Advantage – Articles demonstrating examples of comparative advantage and how this has impacted the balance of trade between one or more countries.

Post a summary and economic analysis of the article/external reference in the discussion board under the article summary/analysis link for this week. Your post should:

• summarize the specific concept from the reading (15 pts)
• analyze how the reference you choose helps to illuminate the concept (20 pts)
• provide a link to the full source of the reference (5 pt)
• encompass 300 to 400 words in total ( excluding references)
