Outsourcing Jobs to…Indiana, USA

For your discussion, I am including below links to news article and video profiling Infosys' announcement of its plans to hire US workers for jobs that normally got outsourced to India in the past. For years, American companies have been saving money by 'offshoring' jobs. Salaries have risen in places like South Asia, making outsourcing there less of a bargain. Infosys has made the decision to hire 10,000 workers in the U.S. over the next 2 years, starting with centers in Indiana and North Carolina. Provide your opinion on what your learned from it. In your discussion, you may include insights (politics aside) on how the outsourcing model has changed over the years and pros/cons of outsourcing abroad.

Based upon what Infosys' is doing is a very good noble decision by deciding to stay with hiring more than 10,000 U.S workers in the United States of America. Now if we look at outsourcing for its pro's and cons, it has many to offer in sorts of ways for the goods and bad's. Lets begin with the pro's, as one of the great benefits for companies to come to the decision of having the american companies locate to another country is a good thing. because it allows companies to distribute the wealth into offer countries to help the economies of that country. Not only it benefits the economy but, it also saves the company a great deal amount of taxes they would have to pay compared to having the building in the U.S. Also the cost of labor is pretty low and the work load can be done much more. Another would be is that, there is different standards and regulations that are much more lighter than a heavy regulated country like the U.S. Also when it comes to materials, it is far more off cheaper and greater quality to get, compared to having it imported to the U.S.

Now after touching upon the pro's, lets get into the Cons. Now when having an american company trying to outsource into another country, problems usually occur. Lets say that when you want to contact the technical support of the company, you usually don't get the same level of respect from a foreigner Representative compared to a U.S worker representative. Also Companies find it a little more stressful because if something important happens like for example; a material or import/export issue related, the top management team has to travel to the country for them to handle the problem. Another is that not only the company saves money greatly but soon after a certain time period, the cost of living intends to rise in the country to as well because of the income and taxes the companies are bringing in also paying as well.

In my opinion, I do believe outsourcing is a good or bad thing depending on which industry you plan to pursue in. For the tech area on outsourcing, I do believe that outsourcing is slowly vanishing because companies wants to focus more locally and domestically due to less complications to deal with. Also the great amount of talents that the U.S has to offer, especially all of the college grads that are coming out of the colleges which U.S is known for its great schooling systems. Plus a lot of companies want to push off on applicating workers for workers temp visa since it takes time and paper work to complete.
