Questionnaires are used in public relations to gain information to create a public relations plan. Your Assignment in this unit is to use the guidelines in the text for questionnaire construction and reaching the target audience to answer questions on the design and implementation of a questionnaire.

To complete this Assignment:

Think of a public relations topic about which you could create a questionnaire. The topic should be related to a real world situation at your work or an organization with which you are involved or volunteer (your own start-up company, a product that you know well, etc.). Think of what information you would need to expand the client base, improve efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, improve public impression, or other public relations purposes. For instance, what changes does a bank need to make to improve customer satisfaction rates? Or how can a multinational non-profit charity organization solicit more donations? Or how can an organization find out more about its employee satisfaction levels? Or how can a travel destination create more interest for increased tourism? Remember that the topic needs to be addressed from a public relations perspective and not from a business perspective (positive impression not sales).

Once you chose your topic, compose a descriptive essay (minimum 750 words) in which you specifically address the points listed below. Make sure to include separate title and references pages, use standard paragraph structure, double spacing, 12 point Times New Roman font, and follow all other APA formatting and citation guidelines. All of these elements are discussed in detail in the text reading. Answer the questions below with detail, examples and explanations incorporating the text material to support your decisions.

  1. What is the topic of your questionnaire?
  2. What is the purpose or objective of your questionnaire? (What do you want to discover)
  3. How does the purpose or objective relate to public relations?
  4. What questionnaire construction will you use? Why?
  5. Who is your target audience? (subjects or participants)
  6. How will you gain access to these groups or individuals? (This is the delivery system discussed in the text)
  7. What is your sample size?
  8. What is your expected response rate based on your sample size and delivery method? Why do you expect this amount of response?
  9. What are your biases about this topic?
  10. How can you make sure your biases are not reflected in the research or analysis?
  11. Wrap up: does this plan seem feasible? What are the limitations or challenges of this plan? Do you think it would address the topic and provide useful data for a public relations campaign? Explain.

Please use at least one other scholarly peer reviewed reference for your Assignment in addition to the textbook for a total of two references. The Library is the best place to find research articles.

  • Please type your descriptive paper using 12-point Times New Roman font and double-spacing using Standard American English.
  • Your viewpoint and purpose should be clearly established and sustained.
  • The writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful.

  • You must refer to the reading resources and provide a citation using APA format in the form of in-text citations for all sources used.
