This assignment is designed to help you understand and evaluate the different arguments for pacifism and just war theories on the ethics of war by drawing from Part VII (Chapter 24) of An Introduction to Biblical Ethics: Walking in the Way of Wisdom. Each of your responses should be 250-300 words.

1. Provide three arguments that can be used to support the pacifist view of war. Cite at least three biblical passages in your answer.
2. Provide three arguments that can be used to support the just war theory. Cite at least three biblical passages in your answer.
3. Reflect critically on the arguments given for the pacifist view and the just war view. Which do you believe to be the stronger view and why?
4. Imagine that a friend has enlisted in the U.S. military and is now preparing to deploy overseas and participate in a war. If your friend asks you how to honor Christ at this stage in life, what advice will you give?
