2)This is one of the most important things you will do in this course – rate yourself on a scale of critical thinking! Most of us are inclined to overestimate our critical thinking abilities. One thing we must overcome is our immediate inflated sense of self that comes naturally to us.

To honestly evaluate your level of critical thinking, you have to eliminate your egocentric tendencies and remove defensiveness. This is not a contest. Once you have pushed these two common ways of thinking to the side, you are ready to truly evaluate yourself as a critical thinker!

After reviewing the first four stages, please consider your present stage and explain why you believe you are currently at this level?

3)What is metacognition (you may want to look this word up in the textbook's Glossary on page 462)? Is it the same as critical thinking?

4)Personally I think this was an awesome TED Talk. Why would it take the medical field 25 years before they decided to ban pregnant women from getting x-rays? As a person who thinks critically, it simply does not make sense.

One of the key points of this video is about the necessity of conflict to bring people to a greater understanding. After watching please consider and respond to the following:

6)RESPOND TO THIS STUDENTS RESPONSE

To me critical thinking is when we can look at a subject or topic and view that topic or subject from many different points of view. Then once you've looked at it from many angles you then use that information to come up with an overall answer. If we use our critical thinking skills enough it will happen whenever you're trying to make a decision. It won't be something you really have to try to do. Trying to think outside the box and pull answers to a question from every angle might just give you an answer you may have never thought of. I really hope to improve on my critical thinking skills so that it's almost first nature.
