Brown v. Board of Education is one of the foundational moments in the fight for Civil Rights because it overturned the idea of “separate but equal” that had been used by political, educational, and social institutions to justify racism. Using the decision of Chief Justice Earl Warren as your starting point, construct an essay in which you address the following 3 sections:

1. What was the ruling of Plessy v. Ferguson, and how is this related to the ruling of 1954?
2. Following Brown v. Board of Education, what were some of the immediate results in the South? Look here to see one example.
3. Explain the difference between de jure and de facto segregation. Provide examples to support your explanation.
